David Insley Awarded the Randall Chapman Fellowship

AUSTIN, TX,  — The Texas Access to Justice Foundation and Texas Legal Services Center are pleased to announce that David Insley has been awarded the first Randall Chapman Fellowship. The fellowship was created on the eve of Chapman's retirement from his thirty-two-year tenure as Executive Director of Texas Legal Services Center. “This fellowship will encourage new ideas and creative approaches to the delivery of legal services as a lasting reminder of Randy Chapman’s tireless work for those in need of legal help and his passion for justice,” Richard L. Tate, chair of the board of directors for the Texas Access to Justice Foundation, said.

David Insley is a recent graduate from St. Mary's School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. During his studies, Dave developed a burgeoning passion for public interest and family law. Then while working on the Access and Visitation Hotline, he came to recognize the practical necessity of compassionate advocacy—especially in regards to economically disadvantaged families struggling to navigate the justice system. Dave's work during the two-year fellowship will allow him to thoroughly serve this population, with the benefits reverberating through the entire family unit and their future generations.

"David has a fire of imagination, depth of thought, and a true passion for justice," says Karen Miller, Executive Director at Texas Legal Services Center. "He is just the sort to rise up and bravely assume Randy's profound and pioneering legacy of public service." Dave will begin his fellowship on September 1, 2019, at Texas Legal Services Center.
